Privacy policy
Privacy policy for startinserbia.com sets out what we collect when you send us an enquiry or read the site, why we collect it, who else sees it, and how to have it deleted. We use analytics to see which pages help people and to fix the ones that do not. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who we are
Start in Serbia is the controller of the personal data described on this page. We are a law consultancy at Lomina 5, Belgrade, Serbia, advising foreign nationals and founders on business registration, immigration, and property.
For anything about your data, write to [email protected]. One of our advisers handles these directly, so you will not be passed around.
What we collect when you contact us
Our forms ask for your name, your email address, the service you are asking about, and, on the contact page, your nationality. Almost every answer in immigration turns on the passport held, which is why we ask. There is also a free text box, and whatever you write there comes to us as you wrote it.
If you reach us by email, WhatsApp, Viber, or telephone instead, we hold whatever you choose to tell us in that conversation. Please do not send scans of passports or other documents until we have asked you for them.
What we collect while you read the site
Until you accept, nothing is stored on your device and we cannot tell one visit from another or recognise you when you come back. We are left with a count of pages read. Accepting turns on the rest, and you can take it back at any time.
Google Analytics tells us which pages get read and which get abandoned. It does not tell us who you are.
Microsoft Clarity shows us how a page is used, so we can see where it loses people. It masks what you type, and until you accept it records without anything that identifies you.
Google Ads tells us which advert you clicked before you reached us, and whether that visit ended in an enquiry. It is how we judge which adverts are worth paying for. We are told that an enquiry happened and which advert preceded it. We do not use it to build a profile of you, to show you our adverts again elsewhere, or to reach you on other sites.
Cloudflare Turnstile checks that our forms are being filled in by a person rather than a script. It runs invisibly, sets no cookies, and is not used to track you between sites. Cloudflare describes what it processes in its Turnstile privacy addendum.
Why we are allowed to use it
Cookies
No cookie is written until you accept. Analytics and advertising are asked separately, so accepting one does not write the cookies of the other. These are what Google and Microsoft write, and declining later removes them again:

Your answer to the cookie bar is kept in the browser rather than in a cookie, so it is never sent to us. Clearing your browsing data clears it, and the bar comes back.
Who else sees it
Your enquiry stays with us. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with other firms.
If you accepted advertising cookies and came to us from one of our adverts, Google is told that an enquiry was made and which advert produced it. That is the whole of it. Your name, your email address, your nationality, and everything you wrote in the form stay with us and are never sent to Google or to anyone else.
The analytics, advertising measurement, and spam checks above are run by Google, Microsoft, and Cloudflare, who process the data on their own systems. All three are based outside Serbia, so accepting analytics or advertising means this data is transferred abroad, including to the United States, under the data processing terms of those providers. Declining keeps all of it from being collected in the first place.
How long we keep it
An enquiry that does not turn into instructions is deleted within twelve months. Where we do act for you, the file is kept for as long as the law and the rules of the profession require us to keep it, and no longer.
Analytics we do not control the storage of directly. Google holds the underlying event data for no more than fourteen months. Clarity keeps session recordings for thirty days, and heatmap data for longer. Advertising records of which advert produced an enquiry are held by Google for no more than thirteen months.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when what we do changes, and the date at the top is the date of the last change. If we add anything that records more about you than the tools listed here, the cookie bar will ask you again rather than assume your earlier answer still stands.
